2007 Joseph S. Garske Legacy Scholarship Recipients

This year we are pleased to announce that Pamela Erickson has received the $1,500 Garske Legacy Award and that a $1,500 Garske Legacy Award renewal has been awarded to Andrew Evenson.

The Joseph S. Garske Legacy Scholarship was started in 1996 by Steve Garske, son of Joseph Garske. grant was established in honor of Par Aide company founder Joseph S. Garske. The program assists children of the Minnesota Golf Course Superintendents Association (MGCSA) members in the funding of their education at an accredited college or trade school. The grant is renewable for a second year with proof of enrollment and a grade point average of 2.0 or higher.

“I am pleased to have our company provide these scholarships since for many superintendents, providing a college education for their children requires a true sacrifice.  I am fortunate to have the opportunity and ability to help,” said Steve Garske, Par Aide president.

Pamela Erickson, the 2007 Garske Legacy winner, is the daughter of David and Diana Erickson.  David is the Superintendent of Eagle Valley Golf Course in Woodbury, MN.  Pamela is a graduate of Stillwater Area High School and now attends Iowa State University where she is majoring in Civil Engineering.

Last year's Garske Legacy Award winner, Andrew Evenson, has renewed his scholarship for a second year.  Andrew is the son of Brian and Connie Evenson.  Brian is the Superintendent at Birchwood Golf Course in Pelican Rapids, MN.  Andrew is attending Gustavus Adolphus College where he is studying Accounting, Economics and Pre-Law.
